This year, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam hosted the 23rd IEEE International Conference on Software Architecture (ICSA 2026). ICSA is the premier venue for practitioners and researchers interested in software architecture, in component-based software engineering and in quality aspects of software and how these relate to the design of software architectures. It is ranked A in the official CORE rankings for Computer Science research.

This year’s conference brought together an inspiring mix of keynote talks, panel discussions, workshops, talks, working sessions, tutorials and poster sessions, alongside valuable networking opportunities that sparked new ideas and collaborations. The outstanding contributions of the community were recognized through awards.

Beyond the sessions, the social events offered a small taste of Amsterdam. Starting with a reception at the Botanical Garden Zuidas, followed by a scenic canal cruise, and a memorable closing dinner in Amsterdam Noord at Restaurant Hotel De Goudfazant.

Behind the scenes, the conference relied on the dedication of many volunteers and organizers. Several members of the S2 Group and members of the Computer Science Department at the VU played an important role in the successful organization of ICSa 2026, contributing both as organizers and as student volunteers.
